  • Qualify as an underwater welder . You need to do a welding course and qualify as a commercial diver, and although the work is dangerous, it is very well paid. Training as a commercial diver in South Africa is based at Saldanha.
  • Qualify as a paramedic (offered by Wits Tech as a 4 year course) – you will be in demand, you get awesome pay and leave, and the work is less physical than other oil rig jobs!
Oil rigs are found all over the world, even off Mossel Bay in South Africa! And oil will remain big business for many years to come.
